Paris, SANA – French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will recognize Palestine as a state during the UN General Assembly meetings next September.
Macron said in a post on the X platform: “In line with its historic commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine, and I will officially announce this before the United Nations General Assembly next September,” noting that the urgent priority today is to end the war in Gaza and provide relief to the civilian population.
Macron stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip, the release of all hostages, and the provision of massive humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, stressing that the French people want peace in the Middle East region.
