Health Ministers of Syria and Turkey discuss cooperation to bolster Syrian healthcare sector

Damascus, SANA-Syrian Minister of Health, Dr. Musab al-Ali, held a phone call on Tuesday with his Turkish counterpart, Kemal Memişoğlu, to discuss avenues for cooperation aimed at revitalizing Syria’s healthcare sector.

The two ministers focused on strengthening collaborative ties between the two countries to enhance the responsiveness of Syria’s healthcare system and improve services provided to citizens.

They also discussed the sector’s requirements for advancing medical standards by leveraging Turkey’s expertise in this field.

Dr. al-Ali emphasized the importance of exchanging medical expertise to support the healthcare sectors in both nations, highlighting Syria’s urgent need for increased international support to address the worsening health and humanitarian crises caused by current circumstances.

For his part, Memişoğlu affirmed Turkey’s readiness to provide comprehensive support to Syria in the health sector, including immediate aid and long-term initiatives.

He noted that Turkish support would extend to strengthening Syria’s healthcare infrastructure to meet its growing needs, especially as the sector is facing significant challenges due to due to the current circumstances in the country.

The Turkish Minister of Health also announced plans for an upcoming visit to Syria to assess the healthcare situation firsthand and finalize joint cooperation agreements between the two countries.

This collaboration aims to advance Syria’s healthcare sector by drawing on Turkey’s successful experience in the field.
