Tartous, Sept. 21 (SANA) Health authorities in Syria’s Tartous province held their eighth blood donation campaign at affiliated health centers, seeking to replenish blood bank supplies and support thalassemia patients and others in need.
The Tartous Health District organized the latest campaign at al-Zarqat Health Center to mark World Patient Safety Day under the slogan, “Take the initiative to give and help save a life.”
Dr. Issa Hassan Hussein, director of the Tartous Health District, told SANA that the campaigns would continue periodically to secure different blood types and meet patients’ needs across the province.
Dr. Wassim Mualla, director of al-Zarqat Health Center, said the campaign drew strong participation from local residents and medical staff, helping provide the blood bank with the quantities and blood types it requires.
Several participants said they donated out of a sense of social and humanitarian responsibility to support patients in critical condition and those with thalassemia.
The campaign is part of the Tartous Health District’s regular blood donation program. The previous drive was held last week at al-Raml Health Center.
