Damascus, Feb. 17 (SANA) Syria’s health minister said on Monday the government would boost funding to strengthen healthcare services in the country’s eastern provinces, describing the region as a priority.
Health Minister Musab al-Ali said the additional funding aims to ensure stable and sustainable medical services. He said recent field visits were conducted to assess conditions on the ground and develop a plan to secure essential medical supplies.
Al-Ali added that the ministry has introduced measures to regulate health professions and pharmacy licensing in Raqqa province to improve oversight and safeguard public health.
He said instructions had been issued to upgrade the ambulance system at Palmyra National Hospital, expand operating rooms and deploy mobile clinics to serve remote areas. Al-Shaddadi Hospital has received three ambulances and four dialysis machines, while ten additional dialysis units were allocated to Hasakah Hospital.
The ministry said the steps form part of a broader plan to restore and upgrade medical services in the eastern region, maintain continuity of care and respond to urgent humanitarian needs.
