Kinshasa, July 16 (SANA) The Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 2,073 confirmed Ebola cases, including 796 deaths, health authorities said on Thursday as the country continues to battle one of its worst outbreaks of the virus.

According to the latest official update cited by Reuters, the number of confirmed infections has risen to 2,073, with the death toll reaching 796.

Ebola is a severe viral disease that spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of infected people or animals and is often fatal. Symptoms include high fever, vomiting, and internal and external bleeding.

Health authorities continue to monitor the outbreak and implement containment measures to limit further transmission.
