Medical staff respond to the Ebola outbreak in Congo.

Kinshasa, June 8 (SANA)  The number of confirmed Ebola virus cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 515 after 27 newly tested samples returned positive results during the past 24 hours, according to government data released on Monday. The data showed that the confirmed cases include 91 deaths.

Congolese authorities warned on Saturday of an accelerating spread of the virus after 71 new confirmed infections were recorded over a recent reporting period.

The outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, which continues to circulate in affected areas.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday that the outbreak remains ongoing, with 906 suspected cases reported, including 223 deaths that remain under investigation.
