Damascus, April 14 (SANA) Syria’s Health Ministry on Tuesday launched a centralized command and control center for emergency services in Damascus and unveiled a new visual identity for the national ambulance system, part of efforts to improve response times and modernize operations.
The new facility, known as “Operations Room 110,” will oversee and coordinate ambulance services and emergency operations across all provinces, the ministry said in a statement.
Health Minister Musab al-Ali said each ambulance has been assigned a unique identification code indicating its location and vehicle number, aimed at improving monitoring and coordination. He added that the ambulance fleet has expanded by 170% to 312 vehicles, with plans to increase it further to 340.
The ministry has also equipped ambulances with neonatal incubators for the first time to enhance care for premature and newborn patients, al-Ali said, adding that regular reporting mechanisms will be used to ensure transparency with donors.
Najib al-Naasan, director of referral, ambulance and emergency services, said the unified center, accessible via the emergency number 110, will handle calls, coordinate case management and oversee patient transfers between medical facilities.
The system also allows real-time tracking of ambulances and direct communication with crews, aimed at ensuring faster and more efficient emergency response, he added.
