Raqqa, April 8 (SANA) Health authorities in Raqqa have launched a vaccination campaign targeting nearly 193,000 children, using fixed centers and mobile teams to expand routine immunization coverage across the province.
The initiative also includes additional vaccination points to ensure access for children in rural areas and Bedouin communities.
Raqqa Health Director Abdullah al-Hammoud said the campaign began on March 31 and provides routine vaccines alongside oral polio doses, regardless of previous vaccination status.
He added that the initiative runs in parallel with a vaccination drive for Hajj pilgrims, launched on March 24 and continuing until April 18, covering meningitis and COVID-19 vaccines.
Health officials said additional vaccine supplies are being secured to meet demand.
The campaign is being overseen by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, as part of broader efforts to strengthen disease prevention and public health services.
It forms part of a wider sub-national immunization campaign covering Deir Ezzor, Raqqa, Hasakah and eastern Aleppo countryside, which began on March 31 and is scheduled to continue until April 22.
