Damascus, March 23 (SANA) – Syria’s Ministry of Health has launched a medical campaign in cooperation with the Arab European Ophthalmology Society (AEOS) to treat advanced cases of glaucoma unresponsive to medication and severe cataract-related blindness.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry said patient registration will begin on April 2, targeting complex and critical cases, with the aim of restoring vision and improving patients’ quality of life.
Registration is available exclusively to patients who have undergone prior consultation with a specialist ophthalmologist, with required medical reports to be submitted through a designated online form.
The initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to expand specialized healthcare services and strengthen cooperation with international scientific organizations.
Founded in 2024 and based in Essen, Germany, AEOS brings together experts and practitioners from Arab and European countries to advance ophthalmology through research collaboration, knowledge exchange, and improved clinical practice.
