Damascus, Feb. 10 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Health on Tuesday denied reports circulating on social media that a deadly disease has spread among poultry, saying the claims were inaccurate and had not been issued by official sources.
In an official statement on its Telegram channel, the ministry said that no announcement or declaration had been made regarding the alleged outbreak, following coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture.
The health ministry stressed that responsibility for monitoring and announcing animal diseases, including poultry diseases, lies with the Ministry of Agriculture’s Directorate of Animal Health and Production, unless the illness is classified as a zoonotic disease that can be transmitted between animals and humans.
It added that the Ministry of Health remains in ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant authorities to ensure the protection of public health.
The statement came after posts circulated on some online platforms attributing warnings about a fatal poultry disease to the health ministry, prompting concerns among the public.
The Ministry urged citizens to refrain from sharing unverified information and to rely on official statements to confirm health-related news.
