Hama, SANA- The Shamimis Castle is located in the northwest of the city of Salamiyah in the Hama countryside and dates back to the late second century BC.
The castle, built by the Arab princes of the Shamisgram family during the Hellenistic era, witnessed successive civilizations, including the Romans, the Ayyubids, and the Mamluk era.
Shmemis Castle was built in an oval shape and surrounded by a moat 15 meters deep and 20 meters wide. Black basalt stones were used in its construction.
The castle overlooks the plains of Homs and Hama and the valleys of the Orontes River. Tourists visit it for climbing, as reaching it requires climbing over highlands.
This castle is still standing proudly, telling the story of civilizations and nations that have succeeded one another in the history of Syria.
