Damascus, SANA- Minister of Education Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turko discussed on Tuesday with Chargé d’Affaires of Sweden Embassy in Syria, Jessica Svardström, ways to enhance cooperation in educational field and develop bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, held at the ministry building in Damascus, the two sides discussed the situation of education in Syria, the number of destroyed schools, and plans to restore them.
They also discussed developing effective strategies to ensure the reconstruction of educational facilities, as well as the importance of international support to accelerate restoration and rehabilitation efforts.
Minister Turko stressed that the ministry is working according to a strategic plan aimed at developing educational efforts and ensuring education for all Syrian children.
He also underlined the need to lift sanctions imposed on Syria to facilitate the reconstruction process and provide the necessary support, particularly in the educational field.
For her part, Svardström highlighted the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries and the need to support education in Syria to ensure the highest level of education for children, affirming her country’s desire to contribute effectively to improving education in the country.
