Damascus, Oct. 14 (SANA) Around 100 students showcased handicrafts, food products and other goods at a three-day bazaar at Damascus University, seeking to promote their projects and gain experience in reaching potential customers.
Organized by the university’s Faculty of Economics and concluding on Tuesday, the bazaar brought together students from different faculties to display products ranging from traditional foods and woolen crafts to handmade artwork and health-related goods.
From ideas to viable businesses
Faculty of Economics Dean Ali Kanaan said the initiative aimed to help students develop marketing and business management skills, assess customer interest and turn their ideas into viable ventures.
The bazaar also seeks to encourage students to establish their own businesses rather than rely solely on finding jobs after graduation, Kanaan told SANA. He said successful ventures could eventually grow into businesses that create employment.
Promoting products and reaching customers
Student Sidra Nasr showcased handmade artwork decorated with materials designed to resemble leather. She said visitors showed interest in the pieces and asked about the products, adding that such events help young entrepreneurs promote their work and exchange experiences.
Another participant, Israa Najib, said the bazaar offered an opportunity to reach more people interested in handicrafts and raise awareness of her project. Beyond immediate sales, she said, such events help build recognition that could support future growth and income.
Najib said holding the bazaar at the Faculty of Economics helped participants connect directly with students and other potential customers.
The event provided students with an opportunity to present their ideas, gauge public interest and gain practical experience in promoting their products while exploring self-employment.
