Damascus, Oct. 15 (SANA) The “Cement and Ready-Mix Concrete Industry in Syria 2026” conference and exhibition opened at the Damascus Fairgrounds, bringing together around 50 companies from nine countries to discuss developments in the sector, expand cooperation and support the recovery of Syria’s cement industry.

Organized by CEMTECH Group in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the event brings together local, regional and international companies representing commercial, industrial and service activities related to cement and ready-mix concrete.

Fadila outlines sector priorities

Speaking at the event, Mahmoud Fadila, director of the General Company for Cement and Building Materials Industry and Marketing (OMRAN), said the cement industry was among Syria’s fastest-recovering sectors, highlighting efforts to improve production capacity, attract investment and reduce manufacturing costs.

Fadila said cooperation between the public and private sectors had contributed to the industry’s recovery, particularly through the development of production lines, the exchange of international expertise and participation in specialized conferences.

He said Syria aimed to make its cement industry one of the lowest-cost producers in the region, stressing that achieving this goal required coordinated efforts by investors and public-sector institutions, alongside access to international technical expertise.

International cooperation and investment

Fadila said the participation of international companies and experts in cement plant development reflected the sector’s importance and offered opportunities to transfer technical knowledge, improve production efficiency and accelerate industrial recovery.

He added that Syria was open to investors and companies interested in contributing to the development of the cement industry.

The conference and exhibition provides a platform for companies and specialists to exchange expertise, explore cooperation opportunities and discuss ways to develop cement production and the ready-mix concrete sector in Syria.
