Damascus, March 29 (SANA) – Syrian Education Minister Mohammad Abdulrahman Tarkou discussed with a delegation from the Norwegian Refugee Council ways to strengthen the capacity of education sector staff through specialized training programs aimed at improving teaching performance.
During a meeting at the ministry in Damascus on Sunday, the two sides reviewed cooperation in non-formal education, with a focus on language programs for Syrian students returning from non-Arabic-speaking countries to help facilitate their integration into schools.
The discussions also addressed the exchange of expertise and the development of updated programs to support learners outside the formal education system.
Tarkou stressed the importance of continuing strategic efforts to build the capacities of education workers and enhance cooperation with international partners to support educational programs, particularly in the field of non-formal education.
He also expressed appreciation for the Norwegian Refugee Council’s role in supporting educational initiatives, including training education staff and assisting returning students in integrating into the school environment.
The Norwegian Refugee Council is an independent international humanitarian organization that provides assistance in areas including education, shelter and water, as well as livelihoods support and legal aid for vulnerable populations.
