Amman, Jan. 26 (SANA) Jordan’s Cabinet has approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on transport cooperation with Syria and Türkiye, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and improving the efficiency and sustainability of transport networks across the three countries.
According to a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency (Petra) following a Cabinet meeting on Sunday, the agreement seeks to facilitate the movement of goods and passengers, promote the exchange of expertise, and encourage coordinated investment in transport infrastructure.
The MoU covers multiple modes of transport, including road, air, and rail, as well as multimodal logistics systems. It also provides for the harmonization of regulatory standards, the advancement of digital transformation and intelligent transport systems, capacity-building, and improved governance and coordination of transport corridors, with a focus on private-sector participation and investment.
Under the agreement, a joint ministerial committee comprising the transport ministers of Syria, Jordan, and Türkiye will be established to provide strategic oversight and supervise the implementation of the MoU, while facilitating ongoing dialogue among the three countries.
The move is part of broader efforts to revive key trade corridors linking Gulf and Middle Eastern markets with Europe via Syrian and Turkish territory.
