Damascus, March 28 (SANA) – Syria’s Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Marwan al-Halabi said a nationwide competition to recruit university faculty members will be announced within the coming weeks after final procedures are completed.

Al-Halabi said the ministry has made significant progress in preparing the process and expects the announcement within two to three weeks.

He explained that the delay aims to ensure the competition covers all academic specializations and staffing needs across Syrian universities and higher institutes.

The minister said the final preparations are being carried out with the participation of relevant departments to ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.

Earlier this month, the Higher Education Council approved plans to launch three recruitment competitions covering teaching staff, technical staff and teaching assistants as part of efforts to strengthen the academic workforce and improve the ratio of professors to students in Syrian universities.
