Hasakah, Feb. 23 (SANA) Syria’s Education Minister Mohammed Abdul Rahman Turko met officials in Hasakah on Sunday to review preparations for the 2025–2026 basic and secondary school certificate examinations, the ministry said in a statement.

Turko held talks with Hasakah Governor Nour al-Din Ahmad at the governorate headquarters, where they discussed the readiness of local education directorates ahead of the upcoming exams, according to the statement.
The minister stressed the need to ensure a stable and supportive learning environment for students and teachers, saying coordinated efforts were required to safeguard the integrity of the examination process.
He added that maintaining stable conditions in schools was essential to enabling students to sit their exams with confidence and to ensuring the smooth functioning of the broader education system nationwide.
Discussions also covered the implementation of Decree No. 13 of 2026, issued on Jan. 16 by President Ahmad al-Sharaa. The decree states that Syrian Kurdish citizens are an integral part of the Syrian people and affirms that their cultural and linguistic identity forms a key component of the country’s national fabric.
Earlier in the day, Turko visited Deir Ezzor province, where he met Governor Ghassan al-Sayed Ahmad and toured several schools. During the visit, he inspected facilities and met with teachers to hear concerns about conditions and educational needs.
