Syria approves fuel price cuts of up to 20%
Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir

Damascus, June 27 (SANA) Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir on Saturday approved recommendations by the Permanent Committee for Pricing Petroleum Products and Mineral Resources to reduce fuel prices across a range of 14% to 20%, following a review of technical and economic indicators affecting the petroleum market.

In a post on X, al-Bashir said the new petroleum products price schedule was adopted based on the committee’s recommendations, which are prepared through detailed technical and economic assessments to ensure balanced decisions that support market stability, maintain the sustainable supply of fuel products and safeguard citizens’ interests.

He said the ministry is pursuing an institutional approach based on transparency, periodic reviews and decision-making grounded in scientific and economic principles to serve both the country and its citizens.

The Ministry of Energy said the new prices took effect immediately upon issuance and include:

  • 95-octane gasoline: reduced by 20.39% to 130 new Syrian pounds per liter.
  • 90-octane gasoline: reduced by 19.97% to 125 new Syrian pounds per liter.
  • Diesel: reduced by 14.37% to 107 new Syrian pounds per liter.
  • Household LPG cylinder: reduced by 15.49% to 1,500 new Syrian pounds.
  • Industrial LPG cylinder: reduced by 15.49% to 2,400 new Syrian pounds.

The ministry said the decision forms part of its regular price review mechanism, reflecting changing economic conditions while supporting market stability, ensuring the continued availability of petroleum products and serving the interests of consumers and the national economy.
