Singapore, Sept. 1 (SANA) Only five commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, with four entering and one exiting, preliminary Kpler data showed Tuesday.
The figure was well below the 10-day average of about 14 vessels, continuing a recent decline in traffic through the strategic waterway. Seven commodity vessels crossed the strait on August 27, compared with a 10-day average of 15 at the time.
No liquid tankers were among Monday’s vessels. One empty handy-sized gas tanker entered through the Iranian route, while three laden dry bulk carriers also entered the strait.
Iranian media reported Tuesday that a Saudi oil tanker was stopped while transiting the southern corridor of the strait.
Meanwhile, 27 vessels transited the Bab el-Mandeb Strait on Monday, including five Aframax- or Suezmax-sized crude tankers, according to Kpler data.
