Syrian, UAE economy ministers discuss expanding economic and investment cooperation

Dubai, Aug. 8 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar and UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and expand investment partnerships during a meeting in Dubai on Friday.

The two ministers reviewed opportunities to deepen cooperation across a range of key sectors, including the new economy, tourism and hospitality, infrastructure, logistics, entrepreneurship and advanced industries, with the aim of supporting economic growth and creating new opportunities for the business communities of both countries.

Al-Shaar said Syria and the UAE share longstanding fraternal and historic ties that provide a solid foundation for expanding joint development and investment projects, helping drive economic growth and strengthen bilateral economic integration.

He said Syria was entering a new phase of economic openness to the world, supported by its diverse economic potential and strategic location, which enhances its role in regional and international trade and investment.

For his part, Al Marri reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to continuing investment and launching economic and development projects in Syria, saying such initiatives would broaden bilateral partnerships, support sustainable development and create new opportunities that advance economic growth in both countries.

He said the meeting marked a new step toward boosting economic ties and enhancing cooperation between Syrian and Emirati companies, particularly in light of Syria’s diverse economic resources and promising investment opportunities, which offer new prospects for UAE businesses seeking to expand into the Syrian market while reinforcing the private sector’s role in supporting economic development in both countries.
