Bucharest, July 14 (SANA) Syria’s charge d’affaires in Bucharest, Anas Badawi, met on Tuesday with Romanian Chamber of Commerce President Mihai Daraban to discuss ways to enhance trade, economic and investment relations between Syria and Romania, in the presence of members of the Syrian Businessmen Council in Romania, the Syrian embassy said.
The meeting, held at the Chamber of Commerce headquarters, addressed investment opportunities available in Syria, the facilitation and incentives offered to investors, and mechanisms to encourage cooperation between businessmen from both countries, according to a statement on X by the Syrian embassy in Bucharest.
The two sides also discussed preparations for a visit by a Romanian Chamber of Commerce delegation to Syria and participation in the upcoming Investment Forum to enhance economic partnership and expand trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, the statement added.
The meeting follows a high-level economic and industrial cooperation discussion in April 2025 between Syrian Economy Minister Nidal al-Shaar and his Romanian counterpart, which covered opportunities in textiles, phosphate, agriculture and the rehabilitation of factories built by Romania.
Romania is also working to organize an economic conference on investment opportunities in Syria, with the first such event held in Bucharest in April 2025 bringing together more than 120 participants from Romanian companies and chambers of commerce.
