Riyadh, June 26 (SANA) Saudi Aramco has resumed crude loading at its Ras Tanura terminal in the Gulf after a near four-month suspension due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, according to vessel-tracking data.
Data from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) cited by Reuters showed two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) were loading crude at the port on Friday, while a third vessel was waiting nearby. Each VLCC can carry around 2 million barrels of oil.
Operations at Ras Tanura had been diverted to the Red Sea port of Yanbu following earlier disruptions to shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz caused by the US-Israeli war against Iran that erupted on February 28.
The restart of exports comes as regional producers restore output and shipment levels following a temporary ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran that eased tensions in the region.
Aramco said earlier this month that it was reviewing plans to expand global storage capacity in response to recent supply disruptions affecting key shipping lanes.
Saudi Aramco, headquartered in Dhahran, is the world’s largest integrated energy and chemicals company and the backbone of Saudi Arabia’s economy and global oil supply.
