Damascus, June 28 (SANA) Transport Minister Yarub Badr said on Sunday that Syria has begun rehabilitating its main road network using the latest engineering standards and is seeking proposals from foreign companies to support the modernization effort.
Speaking at a press conference, Badr said the ministry plans to begin rehabilitation of the M4 highway linking the Nassib border crossing on the Syrian-Jordanian border in the south to Damascus,Homs, Aleppo and the Turkish border in the north.
He added that the ministry also plans to launch a second project to upgrade the main road linking Damascus and Deir Ezzor, connecting northeastern Syria with the capital as part of efforts to complete infrastructure development in the eastern region.
The minister said the projects are aimed at improving transport infrastructure, enhancing road safety and supporting economic development under a comprehensive plan to modernize Syria’s land transport network.
