Washington, June.9 (SANA) Chief Executive Officer of the Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) Youssef Qablawi held on Tuesday separate meetings in Washington with representatives of Chevron, Hunt Oil Company and Baker Hughes to discuss prospects for cooperation and investment in Syria’s oil and gas sector.
Discussions with Chevron focused on advancing the existing memorandum of understanding between the two sides and exploring its development into an executive agreement during the next phase.
Meetings with Hunt Oil and Baker Hughes focused on investment opportunities in Syria’s oil and gas industry and ways to contribute to the development and modernization of the sector.
The meetings were held on the sidelines of the Global Energy Forum, hosted in Washington on June 9–10, and form part of the Syrian Petroleum Company’s efforts to enhance international partnerships and attract investment and technical expertise that can support the rehabilitation of oil infrastructure and the advancement of Syria’s petroleum sector.
A Syrian delegation headed by the Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir is participating in the forum to promote energy-sector cooperation and discuss investment opportunities available to American companies in Syria’s energy and infrastructure projects.
