Damascus, April 27 (SANA) Syria’s Planning and Statistics Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Monday to implement a national labor force survey during the second day of a national consultative workshop held in Damascus, southern Syria.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of discussions on implementing the “National Public Works Program in Syria,” which aims to support employment initiatives and strengthen labor market data.

The survey project will be carried out in cooperation with the organization to provide updated and comprehensive data on workforce participation, employment trends, and labor conditions across the country.

The program aims to link the creation of short-term job opportunities with the promotion of sustainable livelihoods, the rehabilitation of infrastructure and basic services, as well as setting intervention priorities and building national consensus on institutional arrangements and the roles of various stakeholders.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat said social protection, social justice, and decent work represent the fundamental pillars of the country’s stability, stressing that building trust between the state and citizens primarily rests on these three components.

The consultative workshop brought together relevant stakeholders to review implementation mechanisms for the national program and coordinate between institutions involved in labor and development planning.
