Minister Kabawat reviews humanitarian situation in Hasakah
Minister Kabawat discusses improving the humanitarian situation in Hasakah and integrating NGOs into the ministry's framework.

Hasakah, April 8 (SANA) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat met on Wednesday with Hasakah Governor Nour al-Din Ahmad to discuss the humanitarian and relief situation in the province.

During the meeting, Kabawat discussed mechanisms to integrate non-governmental organizations (NGOs) into the ministry’s framework. She announced the formation of a committee, supervised by the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor, tasked with developing integration mechanisms and setting implementation criteria within two to three weeks.

She also outlined plans to develop a joint work program with civil society organizations aimed at improving services for residents.

In a separate session at the Cultural Center in Hasakah, Kabawat met with NGO representatives, who called for facilitating operational procedures and strengthening partnerships with government institutions.

Participants stressed the need for increased support amid declining funding following the closure of camps, highlighting the importance of launching early recovery projects to create job opportunities for vulnerable groups, including women, children and the elderly.

The minister stressed the government’s commitment to addressing challenges faced by organizations, streamlining licensing procedures and supporting vocational training initiatives.

Ibrahim Khalaf, director of Social Affairs and Labor, said 61 NGOs were licensed last year and outlined plans to activate a center for children with hearing impairments and establish a federation of associations in the province.

The meeting is part of the ministry’s efforts aimed at improving services and supporting recovery in Hasakah province, following discussions on community issues in a previous meeting with the Governor of Deir Ezzor.
