Syria, Saudi Arabia to enhance cooperation in transport sector
Syrian Minister of Transport and Saudi Minister hold a virtual meeting to discuss bolstering transport cooperation

Damascus, April 16 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Transport, Yarub Badr, held a video meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, to explore ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in land and rail transport.

Minister Badr emphasized the importance of developing regional connectivity projects to facilitate the movement of transit and goods, which would enhance supply chain efficiency and promote economic integration among countries in the region.

He highlighted the need to rehabilitate and modernize the railway line between Damascus and the Jordanian border, underscoring that this initiative will require joint investments and collaboration.

Minister Al-Jasser, for his part, reiterated the depth of bilateral relations and the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing cooperation in the transport sector, viewing it as a key pillar for boosting trade and connecting regional markets.

He pointed out that the Saudi railway network extends to the Jordanian border, creating opportunities for establishing an integrated regional link with Syria.

The two ministers agreed to enhance technical coordination and activate communication channels between specialized teams to expedite work on joint transport projects.

The discussions come within the framework of implementing an agreement among between Syria, Jordan, and Türkiye regarding cooperation in rail and land transport connectivity, with the objective of improving transportation flow and increasing trade between the three countries.
