CENTCOM: 21 Ships Turn Back to Iran as U.S. maritime pressure intensifies off its coast

Washington, April 18 (SANA) The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that 21 vessels have returned to Iran since the start of naval operations imposed off its coastal waters, which came into effect on the 13th of this month.

In a statement posted on the platform X on Friday, CENTCOM said the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) is conducting patrols in the Arabian Sea as U.S. forces enforce maritime measures targeting ships attempting to enter or leave Iranian ports.

It added, since the beginning of those measures, 21 vessels have complied with U.S. instructions and turned back to Iran.

The United States is also moving to apply the “prize law” in the Strait of Hormuz, allowing the interception and inspection of vessels suspected of carrying prohibited cargo or supporting hostile activity.
