Amman, April 3 (SANA) Jordan’s tourism sector has been hit hard by the ongoing Middle East conflict, with tourist bookings in March reportedly canceled at a rate of 100 percent, the country’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Imad Hijazin, said.
Speaking to Jordan’s Al-Mamlaka TV on Thursday, Hijazin noted that cancellations eased slightly in the following months, dropping to between 60 and 65 percent in April and 40 to 45 percent in May. Despite this improvement, the sector continues to face significant pressure.
The sharp decline comes as several Arab countries, including Jordan, have been affected by Iranian missile and drone strikes linked to the ongoing U.S.-Israeli-Iranian conflict, resulting in casualties and damage to infrastructure.
