New York, Feb. 27 (SANA) U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack on Friday welcomed the growing momentum in technical discussions between Syrian and American representatives in Silicon Valley.
In a post on X, Barrack said the talks mark “a promising step toward modernizing Syria’s digital economy and fostering stronger economic ties” between the United States and Syria.
“Delighted to see the momentum from the recent U.S.–Syria tech engagements in Silicon Valley exemplified by the new MoU between Visa and Syria’s Ministry of Communications,” he wrote.
Barrack noted that collaboration among innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and global leaders opens pathways to sustainable growth, digital inclusion, and shared prosperity.
He expressed gratitude to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for facilitating the dialogue, which helps build long-term economic and technological cooperation.
Syria’s Minister of Communications and Technology, Abdulsalam Haykal, is currently visiting Washington at the invitation of the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
