Damascus, Feb. 18 (SANA) The governor of Syria’s central bank met with representatives of global investment bank Lazard to discuss potential reforms to the country’s banking sector and explore opportunities for expanding investment banking activity in Syria.
Central Bank Governor Abdulkader Husarieh held talks Wednesday with the Lazard delegation on modernizing the financial system and enhancing cooperation in advisory and investment services, according to a statement published on the bank’s Telegram channel.
The discussions focused on updating Syria’s banking framework, improving financial instruments and strengthening the investment climate to support broader economic activity.
Both sides emphasized the importance of aligning the banking system with evolving economic conditions and increasing the efficiency of financing tools to encourage investment and improve the business environment.
Lazard, which specializes in financial advisory and asset management, could potentially provide expertise in capital structuring, investment advisory and specialized banking services, according to the statement.
