Damascus, Feb. 14 (SANA) – A leading Syrian business association and its Jordanian counterpart signed an agreement in Damascus aimed at reviving economic cooperation and expanding cross-border investment.
The Syrian Business Council and the Jordanian Businessmen Association said Saturday the deal reactivates a memorandum of understanding first signed in 2009 and seeks to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two countries’ private sectors.
The agreement was signed by Heitham Joud, head of the Syrian Business Council, and Ayman Alawneh, chairman of the Jordanian Association.
Under the accord, the two organizations plan to organize joint events, conferences and business forums to encourage networking and facilitate partnerships between companies in both countries. The deal also calls for greater information-sharing on trade and investment regulations, as well as support for business delegations and trade missions.
The Syrian Business Council, founded in 2007, represents about 150 members and promotes cooperation between the private sector and government institutions. The Jordanian Businessmen Association was established in 1985 by a group of business leaders and economists.
