Damascus, Feb.4 ( SANA) Syria and the UNDP discussed Wednesday ways of joint cooperation in issues related to demining and removing war remnants, the mechanism for shifting from emergency to sustainable support in the agricultural sector, in addition to facilitating the return of the displaced to their villages.
Agriculture Minister, Amjad Badr met with the Resident Coordinator of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Syria, Natalie Fustier in Damascus.
Minister Badr highlighted the importance of rebuilding the agricultural infrastructure, rehabilitating fruit tree nurseries and increasing the production capacity, securing necessary vaccines and other matters.
He noted that the return of displaced people to their lands depends on planting of agricultural lands, especially after demining, stressing that the ministry is working with all available capabilities, but yet it needs support to repair heavy agricultural machinery.
For her part, Fustier underlined the UN readiness to support the agricultural sector, which is a fundamental pillar for the return of the displaced their villages, in addition to securing a stable environment after removing war remnants.
