Damascus, Jan. 21 (SANA) Syrian and Swiss officials held talks on Tuesday to discuss ways to expand bilateral economic cooperation and support Syria’s economic recovery.
Ayman Hamwiya, head of the General Department of Economy at the Ministry of Economy and Industry, met with a Swiss delegation led by Vincent Pasquier, deputy head of mission at the Swiss Embassy accredited to Lebanon and Syria.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, reviewed the current economic situation and challenges facing the recovery process. Discussions also addressed opportunities for cooperation in recovery support, capacity-building, and the exchange of expertise, with a focus on initiatives aimed at enhancing stability and promoting sustainable development.
Hamwiya underscored the importance of international partnerships in advancing economic recovery and growth. Pasquier expressed Switzerland’s interest in expanding cooperation and supporting efforts to improve Syria’s economic and business environment.
On Jan. 14, Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar held talks with Marion Weichelt, head of the Swiss mission in Damascus, on prospects for strengthening economic relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
