Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh said Friday that he discussed strengthening economic and financial cooperation between Syria and Greece with Emmanuel Kakavelakis, chargé d’affaires of the Greek Embassy in Damascus, and representatives of Lloyd’s, the global insurance and reinsurance company.
In a post on his Facebook page, Barnieh said the Greek envoy expressed his country’s interest in boosting economic and financial ties with Syria and is working to arrange a visit by Greek business leaders and companies to Damascus.
According to the minister, representatives of Lloyd’s regional office, based in Athens, also took part in the meeting and voiced interest in entering the Syrian market to provide reinsurance services.
Barnieh added that the participation of such companies would help support investment and trade between Syria and other countries.
