Deir Ezzor, Sept. 25 (SANA) Children took center stage at the Arab Cultural Center in Deir Ezzor on Thursday, presenting theatre, poetry and other creative work developed during more than two months of training with the “Euphrates Buds” summer talent and skills club.
Organized in cooperation with the Child Culture Department at the provincial Directorate of Culture, the program offered young participants a space to discover and develop their talents through a range of artistic and cultural activities.
The closing event featured theatrical performances, poetry recitals and a news studio presented by young participants, while an Arabic calligraphy exhibition showcased works produced during the program. Volunteer trainers who led the club’s workshops were also honored.
A space for creativity
Sidra Suleiman, head of the Child Culture Department at the Deir Ezzor Directorate of Culture, told SANA that the club ran intermittently for two months and offered training in creative writing, public speaking and presentation, drawing, Ruq’ah script , children’s choir, theatre, folk arts and media skills.
The activities were designed to identify emerging talent and give children the opportunity to strengthen their creative and practical skills.
Theatre instructor Fairouz al-Khader said the program attracted children with a range of interests and helped uncover talents that were developed throughout the training period.
Those efforts were reflected in the performances presented at the closing ceremony, which drew a strong turnout of children and their families, she said.
Confidence beyond the stage
For the young participants, the program was also an opportunity to gain new skills and greater confidence.
Zaman al-Okla, who took part in the calligraphy program, said he learned several styles, including Naskh and Ruq’ah, helping him build on his existing talent.
Baraa al-Hassan, a participant in the media program, said the training strengthened his confidence, fluency and ability to speak before an audience. He presented the news studio segment during the closing event.
Saleh al-Saleh, whose son participated in poetry activities, said the experience helped his child overcome his fear of performing, build confidence and further develop his talent.
The “Euphrates Buds” program forms part of the Deir Ezzor Directorate of Culture’s efforts to support children’s abilities and provide cultural and artistic spaces where they can explore and express their talents. The club began in July and continued intermittently through September.
