Homs, Sept. 13 (SANA) The “Entrepreneurial Imprints” forum in Homs highlighted women entrepreneurs’ experiences and handmade businesses, focusing on initiatives that support entrepreneurship, develop small projects and expand their presence in the community.

Held at the Homs Chamber of Commerce, the forum featured presentations of women-led projects and discussions on challenges facing entrepreneurs, while providing a platform for networking and exchanging expertise among business owners, entrepreneurs and women with emerging project ideas.

The event was organized by Junior Chamber International Homs in partnership with Basmeh & Zeitooneh and the Homs Chamber of Commerce.

JCI Syria National President for 2026 Samia Sarkis said the forum reflects the chamber’s efforts to support women entrepreneurs by creating opportunities for networking between project owners and women and girls seeking to develop their ideas.

She added that the event allows participants to benefit from successful experiences and expertise in Homs.

Basmeh & Zeitooneh’s Western Syria Director Hakam Albunni said the organization has worked for eight years to support and empower women through capacity-building programs, technical training, support for initiatives and assistance for small and medium-sized enterprises.

He said the organization also works to connect women across Syrian regions and provide financial and in-kind support to help entrepreneurs develop their projects and strengthen their role in society.

Participants presented a range of handmade projects, including accessories, artwork, Arabic calligraphy and floral crafts.

Nada Noyan, owner of the “Basmat wa Athar” (Imprint and Impact) project, said she aims to expand her work and participate in larger exhibitions and bazaars, noting that some handmade pieces require significant time and effort to complete.

Iman Summaq, owner of the “Little Hand” project, said her business expanded as interest in women-led projects and supporting initiatives increased, allowing it to reach wider segments in Homs and other provinces.

She pointed to challenges facing handmade businesses, including securing materials, reaching markets and customers, and raising awareness of the effort involved in producing handmade items.

The forum is part of efforts to promote women’s entrepreneurship, encourage business development and create opportunities for cooperation, networking and access to new markets
