Tartous, Sept. 2 (SANA) The second al-Qadmous Summer Festival opened in the Tartous countryside, bringing together more than 40 companies, local artisans and producers as part of efforts to boost tourism and economic activity across the coastal province.

The festival, which opened Tuesday evening, features handicrafts, rural and homemade products alongside entertainment, artistic and tourism activities.

Organized by the Tartous Tourism Directorate and al-Qadmous District administration in cooperation with local groups, the event has drawn a strong turnout from residents and visitors.

Tartous Tourism Director Bassam Abbas told SANA the festival was an opportunity to showcase al-Qadmous’ natural, historical and cultural attractions while supporting local businesses and young talent.

He said promoting local crafts and creative initiatives could contribute to tourism, cultural and economic activity in the area.

More than 40 companies are taking part, offering discounts of up to 50% on a range of products, according to Ahmad Nabhan, director of one of the participating companies. Stationery and school supplies are among the products being highlighted ahead of the new academic year.

Nabhan said the festival combines entertainment and shopping with the promotion of locally made products, providing artisans and businesses with opportunities to reach new customers.

The event is part of the “Tartous Tourism Summer” program, a series of festivals held across the province, including in Dreikish, Sheikh Badr and Safita. The series is set to conclude in Tartous city.
