Damascus, Aug. 23 (SANA) Syrian singer Assala Nasri will return to the Damascus stage after nearly 15 years, with two concerts scheduled for September 17 and 19 at al-Fayhaa Sports Hall.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Artists Syndicate, the concerts are organized by Ugar company under the campaign “Awdat al-Assala” (The Return of Authenticity).
Syrian Artists Syndicate head Mazen al-Natour told SANA that Assala’s return carries particular significance as a Syrian artist returning to her homeland and reflects renewed artistic and cultural activity in Syria.
He said the syndicate has supported preparations and hopes more Syrian and Arab artists will resume activities in the country.
Syria present in her music and position
Assala publicly supported Syrians’ demands for freedom after the Syrian revolution began in 2011 and rejected killings and violations committed by the ousted regime. She also refused to participate in events supporting it.
Her stance prompted measures against her by institutions of the ousted regime, including her removal from the Artists Syndicate.
Following the fall of the ousted regime, Assala released “Syria Janna” in December 2024, calling for unity and reconstruction. In 2026, she performed songs addressing the suffering of detainees, missing persons and their families.
Music and charity
Online ticket sales will begin September 5 through the Evento platform, with half of the proceeds allocated to charities.
The concerts are part of “Summer of Syria 2026.” Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall reopened in April following rehabilitation.
