Idlib, July 31 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Culture on Thursday opened a five-day cultural festival in the northwestern province of Idlib aimed at reviving public life and promoting community  and cultural activities after years of war.

The “Summer of Syria for Families” festival, held at the Idlib Cultural Center, features theater and film screenings, heritage and arts exhibitions, Arabic calligraphy displays, children’s libraries, interactive games, photography exhibitions and activities focused on artificial intelligence.

The opening ceremony was attended by Idlib Governor Mohammad Abdulrahman, alongside representatives of government institutions, humanitarian organizations and local residents.

Abdulrahman said the festival is intended to encourage cultural and social engagement while providing recreational spaces for families, children and young people, adding that it will be expanded to other Syrian provinces after its launch in Idlib.

Khaled al-Youssef, director of Idlib’s Culture Directorate, said the program was developed in cooperation with government bodies and partner organizations to help revive cultural activities in the province through educational, artistic and heritage-based events.

Visitors on the festival’s opening day said it offered opportunities for recreation, creative expression and learning through its art, calligraphy, library and technology exhibits.

The festival is part of a broader government effort to restore public cultural events and strengthen community engagement by organizing educational and recreational activities for families across the country.
