Damascus, SANA – Temperatures will rise but remain below average by 3 to 5 degrees as the country is affected by a superficial high air pressure accompanied by low air pressure in the upper layers of the atmosphere.
The Meteorology Department expected in its Tuesday bulletin the skies will be clear to partly cloudy in general and that the weather will be cold during the night.
The Department warned against the formation of frost, ice and fog in most areas, noting that the winds will be of low speed and the sea waves will be low in amplitude.
It said there has been snowfall over the past few hours over the southern mountains, with snow thickness reaching up to 20cm in Sweida.
Different amounts of rainfalls were registered in the Syrian provinces over the past 24 hours as follows, the heaviest being 23mm in Sweida and 22,5mm in Daraa.
The expected temperatures in some main Syrian cities were as follows: Damascus 09/01, Daraa 07/01, Homs 06/-1, Hama 07/-3, Lattakia 14/01, Aleppo 08/-3 and Deir Ezzor 12/01.
