National Fund for Social Subsidies discusses work mechanisms and proposals for future projects

Damascus, SANA – The National Fund for Social Subsidies discussed on Thursday the work mechanisms of the Fund and means to achieve its goals in supporting social empowerment of citizens within the government’s vision to enhance the social security system.

Discussions during the meeting, which was headed by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, who is the Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Directors, focused on continuing support to the beneficiaries of the Fund-backed projects, highlighting the Fund’s role in financing micro-enterprises and holding training sessions for development and services projects.

Proposals put forth by the Board of Directors for future projects in a number of provinces such as Lattakia, Sweida and Hama were addressed.

The Board members stressed the need to set a definite policy and management of the Fund and develop mechanisms to provide emergency aid to displaced families.

The National Fund for Social Subsidies was established by Legislative Decree No. 9 for 2011. With its 13 branches spread in the provinces, it works on providing support to poor families by offering aid and empowering them through establishing small and micro projects.
