Cabinet discusses economic and services issues, prices in markets, SYP exchange rate

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet discussed in its weekly session on Tuesday a number of economic and services issues, including the prices of food and consumer products in markets, efforts for stabilizing the SYP exchange rate, and the steps taken to curb corruption.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi talked about the recent visit of the Iranian commercial and economic delegation to Syria and the talks that took place between the two sides.

The Premier asserted that the government is working to achieve food security via realistic strategies that take into account climate conditions.

He also instructed the relevant sides to provide suitable conditions for returning the resident of Adra al-Umaliya area to their homes and providing them with the services and necessities they need, in addition to calling for preparing centers for receiving homeless and beggar children to provide them with social care and rehabilitation.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem briefed the Cabinet on the latest developments in the international arena, the intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva, and Syrian-Russian cooperation in counter-terrorism.

The Cabinet also discussed a bill on the reorganization of the Culture Ministry and a bill on amending a law on establishing the Plastic Artists Union, and took the necessary steps to pass them.
