Damascus, SANA- Director of Communicable and Chronic Diseases Department atHealth Ministry DR. Ahmad Dmeiriyeh said that the deaths due to H1N1 infections in all Syrian provinces since September up till now number 82, while infection cases reached 260, pointing out that they are within normal rates, no higher than international rates and are comparable to those in neighboring countries.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Dr. Dmeiriyeh added that the disease poses a greater risk to people who already suffer from complications and other diseases, affirming that health directorates are working on a daily basis to monitor all the registered cases and secure vaccines freely for people.
The disease spreads in winter as viruses become active due to the changing weather and refraction of mucous membrane of people and thus the virus enters easily into the body.
Dmeirieh said that the transmission of disease is caused by direct contact with an infected person by respiratory secretions caused by coughing, sneezing or direct contact.
About the most important protection measures, Dmeiriyeh pointed out personal cleanness and putting a muzzle on the nose and the mouth in case of cold, good ventilation of places, avoiding crowded places or close contact with people with cold and consulting a doctor when feeling any sudden unusual caloric.
