Holy Synod of Antioch stresses need to unite efforts to end crisis in Syria and save Iraq

Beirut, SANA – The Holy Synod of Antioch in Lebanon highlighted the need to join efforts to put an end to the crisis in Syria and save Iraq from terrorism.

The remarks came during a press conference held by Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X Yazigi on the occasion of the launch of the Holy Synod of Antioch’s sessions.

The event was attended by a number of clergymen, who called for releasing all kidnapped persons, especially bishops John Ibrahim and Paul Yazigi, who were kidnapped by terrorists in Aleppo in April 2013.

The participants also called for saving Iraq from fragmentation and sparing it the ravages of war.
