Tehran, SANA-Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian on Wednesday called for combating terrorism in the region in a serious way, away from selectivity, saying “Solution to the crisis in Syria is only political.”
“The Syrian state confronts terrorist organizations with all their different names,” Abdullahian said at a meeting with the UN envoy to Syria Staffan di Mistura, referring to the clear stances of Iran in supporting Syria as government and people.
He considered that reforms in Syria are “a necessity” but to be applied away from chaos and
in a democratic way by the Syrian people inside the country.
For his part, di Mistura pointed out to the increasing danger of terrorism in Syria, considering that “military solution” is useless and affirming the need for taking a serious step to resolve the crisis in Syria through political means.
He added the key for the solution in Syria is represented by preserving the country’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty and the departure of terrorists.
