Finance Minister, South African Ambassador discuss bilateral relations

Damascus, SANA – Finance Minister Ismael Ismael met on Tuesday Ambassador of South Africa in Damascus Shaun Byneveldt, discussing with him means to enhance bilateral relations in the fields of taxes, customs, and exchanging expertise.

The two sides agreed on the need to implement the agreement to avoid double taxation which was signed in initials in 2007, in addition to finalizing the steps to sign the agreement on mutual administrative cooperation and assistance in customs.

Ismael emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in the fields of finance and customs as this will have a positive effect on economic relations and joint investments, while Byneveldt asserted his government’s commitment to pushing cooperation between the two countries forward, adding that a high-level delegation from South Africa will visit Damascus soon to discuss means to improve cooperation.
