Ambassador Khaddour presents credentials to UNIDO General Director

Vienna, SANA- Syrian Permanent representative to UN office in Vienna, Ambassador Hassan Khaddour, presented his credentials to General Director of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Li Yong.

During the meeting held on Tuesday, Khaddour voiced Syria’s appreciation for the continuous cooperation between UNIDO and the Syrian government, briefing him on the repercussions of the terrorist and economic war on Syria including the systematic destruction of the infrastructure of all sectors and looting factories and oil resources.

He underlined the role played by UNIDO in supporting the Syrian government through the organization’s expertise to rebuild the industrial sector as it is the basic wheel of development in any state especially in light of the challenges and obstacles that hinder its development in post –crisis phase, on top, the negative repercussions resulted from imposing the unilateral coercive measures.

In turn, Yong expressed his aspiration to enhance exchanged cooperation and coordination between the organization and the Syrian state in a way that guarantees continuing the support offered to Syria through the development programs, expressing his understanding to issues and challenges that have been facing Syria since the beginning of the crisis ,especially related to inability of the country to import the medical equipment and affecting the ability to produce them and applying this matter on all other sectors especially the agricultural one.

He asserted the organization’s readiness to offer the needed support to make progress for the national experiences and expand their programs directed to the small and medium-sized enterprises to achieve sustainable development for the industrial sector.
