Damascus, SANA – The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) National Championship, organized by the Distinction and Creativity Agency, concluded its activities on Saturday at al-Fayhaa Sports Hall in Damascus.
The Championship, held under the title “Smart Cities,” began on Thursday with the participation of 87 teams from robotics clubs in universities, educational establishments, civil associations, and training centers.
In the Advanced Robotics Challenge category, Playback from the Higher Institute for Applied Science and Technology won first place, with Manara Phonics from Manara University coming in second.
In the Open category for projects, Squadros from Sawa School came in first, followed by HHHNCD from the National Center for the Distinguished in second place and Robophonics from al-Baath University in third place.
In the WRO Football category, Robonauts from the IT Faculty in Damascus University won first place, with Legotechs from the IT Faculty’s club coming in second and Unstoppable from the same faculty coming in third.
In the Regular Elementary category, Syrian Minds from the Syrian Computer Society (SCS) won first place, while Genius from Genius club came in second, and Roboxy from the robotics club at the Homs branch of SCS coming in third.
In the Regular Junior category, Aero 403 from the Damascus branch of SCS won first place, with Code Black from the Syrian Robot club coming in second and Kamikaze from the robotics club at the Homs branch of SCS coming in third.
In the Regular Senior category, Robix from the Higher Institute for Applied Science and Technology won first place, and Syrian Phonics from the SCS came in second and Robos NCD from the National Center for the Distinguished coming in third.
Encouragement cups were also handed to the youngest participants Haidara Othman and Samar al-Nafouri.
The teams that came in first in each category have qualified for the WRO International Final duel to be held in Hungary in November.
